On Friday 4th February 2011, “Kildare Today” Presenter, Clem Ryan was joined in studio by the Fine Gael Leader, Enda Kenny.

In a wide ranging interview, Mr. Kenny addressed issues surrounding his leadership, his plan for creating jobs, how he feels Fine Gael can get the country back on track, and his pledge to clean up the Kerdiffstown Landfill site near Naas. The interview formed part of Kfm’s General Election 2011 Party Leaders Feature.

On Wednesday 26th January 2011, Kfm's Kildare Today programme went live to the scene of the latest fire at the dump. The current blaze began seven days earlier, with smoke billowing across the N7. Kildare Today Producer, Shane Beatty reported from the scene, where he was joined by a number of residents while Clem Ryan was joined back at base by Joe Friel of the Clean Air Naas Group.

On Wednesday 19th January 2011, Kildare Today presenter Clem Ryan was joined in studio by Naas mother Tina Priestley. Tina's baby son Bobby died in 2009 following a 13 month battle with illness. She tells us about her pain in losing a child, how the family rallied together, and how the Johnstown-based Jack and Jill Foundation allowed baby Bobby to be cared for in the comfort and love of his family home. Tina now volunteers with Jack and Jill.

Mary Alcoholics Anonymous

On Monday, 17th January 2011, Clem Ryan was joined on air by "Mary" (not her real name to protect her privacy). She is a member of AA locally here in Kildare. Mary told us of her battle with alcoholism, how she hit rock bottom and how the support of AA meetings has helped her. After the interview, we were contacted by many listeners who praised her honesty and bravery. 

 
Paddy Doyle

85 years old Paddy Doyle was recently honoured by the Athletics Association of Ireland for his outstanding contribution to Irish athletics.  The ceremony took place in Carlow.

On the occasion, he was a guest on Kildare Today.  During the interview, he scotched retirement: saying that he'll be competing in the over 85's in 2011.
