Joe was first exposed to the subtle glories of radio as a 5-year-old, when he received a shiny new Walkman from Santa Claus.

It was love at first listen and the Walkman promptly became a ubiquitous companion to little Joe. Coupled with the fact that he was sports-crazy, there was only ever going to be one career for him.

Born and bred in Celbridge, Joe has played soccer for his local side Ballyoulster United since the age of ten. He continues to play with them to this day and is now vice-captain of the senior Sunday side.

He has also been an active member of Celbridge GAA club since childhood. His greatest sporting regret is, and always will be, losing the minor county football final to Confey in 2002.

In his underage days, he was also involved with the Kildare set-up. He was “a dam classy centre-back”. (His own words, not ours.)

As for the bourgeoning radio career, Joe has been working at local and national level for the past few years. A graduate of NUI Maynooth, his first foray into radio was as a student with community station Liffey Sound FM.
