40 Per Cent Increase In Number Of People Calling Crime Victims Helpline

There was a 40 per cent increase in the number of people calling the Crime Victims Helpline last year.

They say they got 4,100 contacts from people seeking support and information in 2016.

They've also recorded an increase in the number of males getting in touch, with 4 in 10 of their contacts being from men.

The most common crimes people who used the service were affected by were assault, harassment and burglary.
