Listen: AGSI Conference To Debate Motion On Banning Of Filming Of Members.

: 04/10/2017 - 17:07

Recruitment numbers and staff shortages are expected to be raised by the AGSI President, Antoinette Cunningham, when she addresses members at their annual conference shortly.

150 delegates, representing over 2,000 sergeants and inspectors, c. 55 of them stationed in the Kildare Division, have gathered in Killarney for the three-day event.

Up to 30 motions will be debated including calls for a new criminal offence to be created for photographing or capturing an image of a Garda while carrying out their duties - without their prior consent.

News Reporter with INM Robin Schiller has been looking at the details:

However, the National Union of Journalists has expressed concern at the calling for the photographing or filming of Gardaí - while on duty -  to be made a criminal offence.
