FLARECAST Forecasting Service Launches Today.

: 01/15/2015 - 10:40

A new solar storm forecasting service for Europe called FLARECAST is launching today.

Astrophyicists from Trinity College are among a group of leading scientists who will receive funding for the service.

The group have been awarded 2.5 million euro to study the origins of solar storms.

Solar storms are huge explosions of hot gas from the Sun that can damage satellite electronics and interrupt radio communications and navigation systems when they impact the Earth.
