Pyrite campaigners say they are disappointed with the revised standards for homes affected by the mineral.
The National Standards Authority of Ireland published changes to the way damage is categorised.
It's hoped the amendments will allow homes at low risk to be sold.
However Dave McGinley of the Pyrite Equality Group doesn't think the new categories are scientific enough.
The Pyrite Resolution Board said more than 10,000 homes completed between January 1997 and December 2013 in Kildare, Meath, Offaly and Dublin were affected by pyrite.
