Silver Masters B All-Ireland 40x20 Singles final:
The All-Ireland Silver Masters B singles final between Ballymore’s PJ McGrath and Limericks Pat Murphy was played yesterday in Kilcolman, Co Tipperary.
In the first game PJ went into an early 6-0 lead ace. He was comfortable throughout the first and never relinquished his lead as he varied his serve very effectively to win the first on a 21-8 scoreline.
In the second game the early stages were tight with only an ace or 2 between the two players, Murphy got his power serve going and served several bullets down both sides of the alley.
He was also coping better with McGrath’s serves. The scores were tied several times. At 15 all, McGrath hit shots to both bottom corners that the Limerick man was unable to pick and opening a 4 point gap, eventually taking the set and the title, at 21-16.
PJ McGrath was making made his long awaited return to competitive action this year.
