Joe Quaid Announces 2018 Kildare Senior Hurling Panel

: 11/17/2017 - 09:18

Kildare Senior Hurling Manager, Joe Quaid, has announced a Provisional Panel of 42 for 2018 to participate in the Bord na Mona Walsh Cup, Allianz National Hurling League Division 2A and the Christy Ring Cup. (The manager has given an exclusive extended interview to Kfm which will be broadcast on this Sunday's Sportsbeat at 4pm.  In it he reviews 2017, discusses his new panel and plans for 2018)

Among those who were unable to commit at this stage were Michael Purcell and Ross Bergin (both Naas) and Paudie Ryan (Ardclough). Also absent are last year’s “permit” players, David Reidy, who has returned to the Limerick senior squad, his brother, Michael as well as Kilkenny All Ireland senior medallist John Mulhall and Tipperary’s Dinny Stapleton.

Returning to the panel are Martin Fitzgerald (Ardclough), Mark Grace (Coill Dubh), Eanna O’Neill (Coill Dubh) and Padraic Keegan (Confey).

Kildare’s first outing of the new season will be at home to Laois in the Bord na Mona Walsh Cup on December 30th. The losers of that game will play Kilkenny on January 3rd, while the winners will play Kilkenny on January 7th.

Kildare open their Allianz National Hurling League campaign at home to Meath. They will also be home to Kerry and away to Carlow, Westmeath and London.

They have been grouped with Roscommon, Mayo and Wicklow in the Christy Ring Cup
