Two people have been injured following a hit-and-run in Carlow town.
The 59-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman were struck by a 4x4 vehicle while out walking on a local road in the Urglin Rutland area at around 8.20 yesterday evening.
The man - who was seriously injured - and the woman - who sustained minor injuries - were taken by ambulance to St. Luke's General Hospital in Kilkenny.
The driver of the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone with further information to contact them.
