It’s a Madrid Derby Champions League Semi Final; Sean O’Brien is out of Leinster’s Champions Cup Semi Final & the Kildare Minor Football & Camogie teams are Named.

The draw for the Champions league semi finals is Real Madrid vs Athletico Madrid and Monaco vs Juventus.

This will be the fourth successive season the rivals have met in the competition.

Real beat Athletico in the 2014 and 2016 finals.

Monaco and Juventus meet in the other semi-final.

The semi-final first legs will be played on May 2nd and 3rd, with Real and Monaco at home in the first leg.

Atletico have finished runners-up in the competition three times.  Real's victory last year was their 11th.

The final will be Cardiff's Principality Stadium on June 3rd


Manchester Utd have drawn Celta Vigo in the Europa League semi final.  Ajax play Lyon in the other semi final.

First legs on May 4th.


In the SSE Airtricity league Premier division, leaders Cork City go to St Pats , second placed Dundalk are home to Bohemians.

Bray host Shamrock Rovers, Finn Harps play Drogheda, Limerick host bottom side Galway.

Sean O'Brien is out of Leinster's Champions Cup semi final clash with Clermont in Lyon on Sunday because of tightness in his hamstring.

Athy’s Joey Carberry is at full back for his 20th Leinster cap, with Suncroft’s Fergus Mc Fadden winning his 150th cap and Isa Nacewa on the wings.

In the centre Robbie Henshaw and Garry Ringrose renew their partnership.  Luke McGrath and Johnny Sexton are the half backs.

The front row is Jack McGrath, Richardt Strauss and Tadhg Furlong.

The second row Devin Toner and Hayden Triggs.

The back row is Rhys Ruddock on the blindisde , Dan Leavy at openside and Jack Conan at no. 8.


Conor Murray is out of Munster’s semi final with Saracens at the Aviva.

Duncan Williams is at scrum half while Tyler Bleyendaal returns at out half,

CJ Stander starts at number 8, with Peter O'Mahony captaining the side from the blindside.


The Kildare minor football team to play Carlow tomorrow at 1pm has been named.
