Kildare Are Christy Ring Cup Champions

: 06/23/2018 - 17:21

Its two from two for Kildare teams so far this weekend.

Following the under 20 footballers quarter final win on Friday evening, the hurlers put in a brilliant performance yesterday to beat London by 3-19 to 1-11 in the Christy Ring Cup final.

Kildare were always in control and lead at half time by 1-9 to 6 points: the goal on 34 minutes by Jack Sheridan.  London were reduced to 14 a minute later.

Kildare continued their dominance through the 2nd half, adding goals by Shane Ryan and Sheridan again.

James Burke continues his remarkable recovery from life threatening illness of only a couple of months ago as he hit a game high 8 points today.

The Kildare manager is former Limerick two time All Star Goalkeeper Joe Quaid

It’s Kildare’s 2nd Christy Ring title, having previously won in 2014

They will now play Antrim next Saturday, at a venue to be decided, for a place in next year’s Joe McDonagh Cup.
