Local Residents' Concerns Prompt Garda Speed Checks On Barrettstown Road

Meanwhile, road engineering teams in local authorities are facing a significant obstacle in their efforts to enhance road safety.

Due to several complaints from local residents, An Garda Síochána carried out speed checks on Barrettstown Road in Newbridge.

Several motorists were found travelling above the speed limit of 60kph and were charged a €160 fine and three penalty points.

One driver was caught travelling at a speed of 92kph, while two others were caught travelling at 86kph and 84kph.

Meanwhile, road engineering teams in local authorities across Ireland find themselves tackling a significant obstacle in their efforts to enhance road safety.

A GDPR issue has rendered them unable to access crucial data pertaining to road collisions that have transpired over the past six years.

Kfm has contacted Kildare County Council for comment.
