Fire crews remain at the scene of a major scrapyard blaze in north county Dublin, where up to 100 vehicles were destroyed.
Up to 100 cars have been destroyed following a major fire at a scrapyard near Ballyboughal in north county Dublin.
Eight Dublin Fire Brigade units were deployed at the height of the blaze yesterday afternoon, with large plumes of black smoke visible across the surrounding area.
The fire was brought under control at around 8.15pm, with two fire appliances and a water tanker remaining at the scene this morning to dampen down hotspots.
A number of nearby homes were evacuated as a precaution due to smoke and other potential hazards at the site.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
