Former US Police Officer requests new trial, following murder conviction.
A lawyer for former US police officer, Derek Chauvin, has requested a new trial, two weeks after he was found guilty of killing George Floyd.
A jury unanimously convicted Mr. Chauvin of murder, hearing evidence of how the 45 year-old knelt on the neck of Mr. Floyd for over 9 minutes, during his arrest in May 2020.
Under Minnesota's sentencing guidelines, prosecutors can seek a maximum imprisonment of 40 years.
