Detected in 26 countries in WHO's European Region
The World Health Organisation believes the Covid-19 variant, originally identified in India, may soon become the dominant strain of the virus, in parts of the EU.
The variant has been detected in 26 of the 53 countries within the WHO's European Region.
There are four variants of concern circulating in the region, but the B.1.1.7 (known as the British variant) is currently most dominant.
