Older people’s independence and decision-making was reduced disproportionately

Many older people felt "cancelled" during the pandemic.

A new report from seven older persons organisations finds if discrimination against the elderly hadn't been so prevalent, the effects of the crisis on them would have been less severe.

They say older people’s independence and decision-making was reduced disproportionately, as life became a series of instructions.

The review also found restrictions on funerals and bereavement caused deep distress, that will 'reverberate for a long time'.

Chief Executive of the Irish Senior Citizens Parliament, Sue Shaw, joined Clem Ryan on Thursday's edition of Kildare Today.
