Checks at the scene also found the driver had no insurance.
A Jaguar has been seized in Castledermot after being driven with just a tiny hole scraped in a frozen windscreen.
The car was stopped yesterday morning by the Garda Roads Policing Unit as temperatures dropped to –4 degrees.
Gardaí say the windscreen was completely iced over, with only a small viewing gap cleared - leaving the driver with severely restricted visibility.
Checks at the scene also found the driver had no insurance.
The vehicle was seized and impounded, and the driver will face a court date.
Gardaí are warning that driving with an obscured windscreen is reckless and dangerous, especially during icy conditions, and puts all road users at risk.
