He has led SI since 2015, and also headed-up its predecessor, the Irish Sports Council.
John Treacy will retire as Sport Ireland's Chief Executive at the end of this year.
The 64-year-old has been in the position since Sport Ireland was established in 2015, and was previously in charge of the Irish Sports Council.

Treacy was an Olympic marathon silver medallist at the Los Angeles Games in 1984.
Several milestones were reached during tenure, including introduction of the Irish anti-doping programme, increased financial support, the implementation of high performance systems and the roll out of the local sports partnership initiative.
He will retire on December 31st.
