Gardaí said neither the money nor the gun were recovered.

A Dublin man has been sentenced to five and a half years for the armed robbery of an estimated €50,000 from a security van driver outside AIB bank in Clane in 2019.

36 year old Graham Doyle, from Finglas, pleaded guilty at a sitting of Naas Circuit Criminal Court to the robbery outside the AIB branch at Main Street, Clane on May 30th 2019.

Garda evidence was that Doyle, holding a gun, approached the driver of a security van making a cash delivery to the bank branch at 2pm.

Gardaí said neither the gun nor the money were recovered.

The court was told that Doyle ran up Main Street, then climbed over a 10 foot wall near Manzor’s pub and escaping in a Transit van.

The van was found burnt out two days later.
