The money will go to group water schemes and other rural networks to improve water quality, cut leakage, and expand access.
Over €74 million in capital funding for rural water projects nationwide has been announced.
A total of 291 projects will be funded under the Rural Water Programme 2024–2026.
The money will go to group water schemes and other rural networks to improve water quality, cut leakage, and expand access.
But Kildare is among the lowest funded counties under the latest tranche, receiving €744,222.
In contrast, Mayo tops the list with €20.8 million, followed by Donegal with €16.1 million and Clare with €14.7 million.
Only a handful of counties received less than Kildare, including Wicklow (€21,250) and Waterford (€55,204).
Officials say the funding was based on applications from local authorities and group schemes, reviewed by an independent expert panel.
Housing Minister James Browne said the investment will boost rural living and local economies.
It follows earlier allocations of €45 million and €47 million under the same programme in 2023 and 2024.
Five local group water schemes will benefit from the funding:
Lipstown–Narraghmore Group Water Scheme will receive the largest share, with €332,370 for water conservation and leakage prevention.
Ballindoolin Group Water Scheme will get €143,637 for similar works.
Usk–Gormanstown Group Water Scheme will get €57,473 for leakage reduction measures.
Bishopscourt Group Water Scheme was granted €130,804 to support its transition into Uisce Éireann’s public network.
Sherlockstown Common Group Water Scheme will receive €79,938 under the same taking-in-charge measure.
Last year, Kilteel received a significant portion of funding for rural water infrastructure under the Multi-Annual Rural Water Programme.
More than €3 million was allocated to improve the village’s water quality and safety following arecent water contamination crisis.
In 2021, a 'Do Not Consume' notice was issued for a number of homes in Kilteel after dangerously high levels of arsenic were discovered in the group water scheme that serves the area.
