Minister Heydon Defends Storm Response As Scottish Citizens Get Food Allowances And Accommodation

Some locals have been without power since last week.

Hundreds of locals are still without power and water across the county.

Local GAA clubs had to open their doors to locals looking to charge their phones, get showers and hot drinks.

In Scotland, food allowances and even alternative accommodation is given to people without electricity for long periods.

Agriculture Minister and Kildare South TD Martin Heydon was asked why a similar system isn't in place for Ireland.

He said 143 hubs have been set up in the aftermath of the storm.
