Rathbride Road Safety: Engineer's Visit Aims To Tackle Locals' Growing Concerns

Councillor Suzanne Doyle expressed frustration at the prolonged process of securing funding for local issues.

In response to mounting concerns regarding road safety in Rathbride, an area engineer conducted a site visit on Friday at around 8.15am to address the community's concerns.

The visit follows a surge in road safety issues raised by locals regarding the lack of safety measures in the area.

Residents have long voiced their worries, particularly regarding the absence of footpaths, prompting fears for pedestrian safety.

Assurances have been made that footpaths will finally see fruition this year, aiming to mitigate the risks faced by pedestrians.

Plans are also underway for the installation of advisory signage and speed ramps flanking both sides of the cattle grid.

The move comes in the wake of a petition recently submitted to Kildare County Council by concerned residents, urging immediate action to address the precarious road conditions.

Meanwhile, Cllr Suzanne Doyle expressed frustration at the prolonged process of securing funding for local issues.

She emphasised the urgent need for the council to respond promptly to community concerns, citing the challenges posed by the centralised allocation of funds.

Doyle criticised the limited discretionary spending available to Kildare County Council, describing it as "abysmal".
