Hourly limits on advertising will also be lifted
Proposals will go to cabinet today to speed up the creation of new supports for the broadcasting sector.
These include exempting community radio stations from paying the broadcasting levy and setting up 20 annual bursaries of €25,000 each for journalists in local and community radio.
Hourly limits on advertising will also be lifted, but a daily cap of 15 per cent of content will still apply.
Minister Catherine Martin will ask cabinet this morning to roll the measures of the proposed Broadcasting Bill into the new Online Safety Bill, which is expected to be enacted sooner.
