26-year-old Charles Dooher, from Lifford in County Donegal, was at home when a masked gang broke in and beat him with iron bars.

The girlfriend of a man, who is fighting for his life in hospital after being beaten, says their lives will never be the same again.

He suffered severe head injuries and his family say he cannot talk, walk or breath for himself.

Gardaí are continuing to investigate the attack, and are asking anyone with information to come forward.

Charlotte Gallen says they're now questioning Charles' safety.
