O'Brien has written to Archbishop Eamon Martin
The government has asked the Catholic Church to identify vacant land or buildings that could be used for housing.
Minister Darragh O'Brien is understood to have written to head of the Church in Ireland, Archbishop Eamon Martin, last Wednesday, according to the Irish Times.
It comes as the Minister is expected to announce the government's Housing For All plan in the coming weeks.
Retired Bishop of Killaloe, Willie Walsh, says the Church should help where it can
