Kildare hurlers scheduledWalsh Cup campaign at home to Galway yesterday was called off at 1pm due to a frozen pitch.
Earlier in mid-moring, the start time of 1.30pm was pushed back from 1.30pm to 2pm.
But at 1pm, the referee deemed the pitch unplayable.
The hurlers next game is in the Shield section at home vs Antrim at 2.30 next Sunday
The footballers won their opening O'Byrne Cup match away to Wexford on Saturday by 2-12 to o-9
Next game for Kildare is on Saturday at home to Dublin at 5pm.
Kfm will have commentary of both games next weekend.
Athy's David Hyland has retired from intercounty football.
He began his Inter County career in 2006 with the development squads and went on to be a member of Kildare minor team in 2011 and 2012.
He then went on to play three years at under-21 level, winning a Leinster Championship in 2013.
He made his debut for the County Seniors as a substitute against Mayo in Castlebar and went on to make 136 competitive appearances for the Lilywhites, putting him 13th on the all-time list.
He scored 2-31 for Kildare and was captain in 2020 and 2021.
His Kildare career finished on a high note with Tailteann Cup victory against Limerick last summer.
