It's understood the father died in hospital days after he was arrested from a suspected heart attack.

An Irishman who died after being arrested in Ecuador was originally from Edenderry.

John Fennessy (64) and an accomplice were arrested earlier this month following a drugs bust.

They were accused of being in the possession of cocaine worth over 600 thousand euro.
