Judge Tom O'Donnell gave Jamie Marshall what he described as "credit" for admitting the charges at the earliest opportunity.
A man who admitted to filming himself carrying out sex acts on a baby boy has been jailed for four years.
35-year-old Jamie Marshall's actions were described as "vile" in court.
The court heard Marshall - with an address in Limerick city - pleaded guilty to knowingly having child pornography, as well as producing and distributing the same.
He also admitted charges of defilement, and using technology to facilitate the sexual exploitation of a child - on or before December 30th, 2020.
Judge Tom O'Donnell gave Jamie Marshall what he described as "credit" for admitting the charges at the earliest opportunity.
But the judge said he had to impose a custodial sentence for what he described as Mr Marshall's "appalling, vile, egregious and despicable" behaviour.
He added that it "was depravity of the highest order with an infant child".
The judge ordered the specifics of Mr Marshall's home address - where his parents lived - not be reported.
He was sentenced to six years - with the final two suspended.
