James 'Jake' Berney, who was in his 50s, died in hospital after being attacked at his home on Foxdene Drive in Balgaddy.

An investigation is continuing into the death of a man near Lucan on Wednesday night.

James 'Jake' Berney, who was in his 50s, died in hospital after being attacked at his home on Foxdene Drive in Balgaddy.

It's understood he was stabbed a number of times during the late night disturbance.

The scene remained sealed off yesterday, while gardaí carried out door-to-door enquiries.
