The single-vehicle crash happened on Bóthar na dTreabh in Galway city at around 7.30pm yesterday evening.
A motorcyclist aged in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene.
The section of road where the crash happened remains closed, pending a technical examination this morning, and local diversions are in place.
Gardai are appealing for any witnesses, or road users with video or dashcam footage to make it available to them.
