The women's award went to Spanish midfielder Aitana Bonmati.

Australia have pulled out of the running to host the 2034 World Cup.

Football Australia said they "explored the opportunity" of trying to hold the tournament but "decided against it".

It leaves Saudi Arabia as the only confirmed bidder ahead of today's deadline.

After a 5-1 victory on Friday night in Dublin, the Republic of Ireland senior women's team face Albania again later today.

Their Nations League encounter has a 5pm start in Shkoder.

Elsewhere in Ireland's group, Northern Ireland play Hungary in Belfast from 7-o'clock.

Shamrock Rovers manager Stephen Bradley has accused Cork City of showing a lack of respect for the league champions.

Having won the title on Friday night for a fourth year in a row, the Hoops played out a nil-all draw with City at Turner's Cross last night.

However, the home team didn't provide a guard of honour for Shamrock Rovers before the match.

There are two last-16 games in the Carabao Cup this evening.

Mansfield Town host Port Vale while Exeter City entertain Middlesbrough with both of those games underway from 7.45.

Queens Park Rangers have appointed Marti Cifuentes as their new head coach.

The Spaniard takes over from Gareth Ainsworth, who was sacked by the Championship side at the weekend.

Cifuentes comes in from Swedish top-flight side Hammarby.
