The council confirmed that it has exhausted all measures in their power to address speeding on this road
Kildare County Council have agreed to write to An Garda Síochána for a permanent speed camera to be installed in Maynooth, following concerns over speeding.
Fianna Fáil Cllr on the Clane-Maynooth municipal district, Donna Phelan, raised the motion at the recent council meeting.
Cllr Phelan said an active residents group have been lobbying to address the speeding issues on the Kilcock Road in Maynooth, and has also been an issue raised previously in a council meeting.
Measures have been taken to tackle speeding on the road, with the council saying additional painting of 'SLOW' markings on the road will be done once the weather improves.
However, the council also confirmed that it has exhausted all measures in their power to address speeding on this road.
"This is where enforcement becomes a key issue", explained Cllr Phelan on this mornings Kildare Today show.
Following Cllr Phelan's motion, a letter is now being drafted by the council to be sent this week to An Garda Síochána, requesting that a permanent speed camera be installed on the Kilcock road to deter speeding.
