In the incident, a person was tricked into handing over a laptop
Gardaí are warning people to practise vigilance when buying or selling items.
Last week, an individual was selling an expensive laptop through a Facebook Marketplace page.
The seller accepted an offer and met the buyer in Kilcullen so that the laptop could be inspected.
The buyer showed them a screenshot of financial payment being made.
It was a large amount of money, so the seller suspected it may take a few days for the money to hit their account.
The device was exchanged.
A few days later, no monies has been received and the seller has been unable to contact the buyer since.
