Kildare experienced an uptick in new car registrations in 2024, with 5,401 new cars registered in the county, marking a 3.93% increase compared to the 5,197 units registered in 2023.
In terms of market share, Kildare now accounts for 4.46% of all new car registrations in Ireland, up from 4.25% the previous year.
While Kildare saw a rise in new car registrations overall, the county's electric vehicle (EV) sector faced a dip.
In 2024, Kildare saw 1,025 electric vehicles registered, down from 1,261 in 2023 - a decline of 18.72%.
Despite this, the county's share of the national electric vehicle market remains large, with the county holding 5.87% of total EV registrations, up slightly from 5.52% the previous year.
Petrol remains the most popular engine type for 2024, while Electric, Hybrid, and Plug-in Hybrid account for over 45% of the market.
