Popular discount store Dealz is recalling a range of coloured pencils due to a chemical risk to children.
The product in question, Disney-licensed coloring pencils sold in a tube, has been found to contain "unacceptable" levels of chemicals known as Phthalates, deemed unsafe for young children.
Phthalates, also referred to as plasticisers, are commonly used to enhance the durability of plastics and can be found in various products such as vinyl flooring and soaps.
According to the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC), these chemicals pose a specific health risk to the reproductive system of young girls.
Approximately 2,036 affected products have been identified within the Republic of Ireland.
