A man from Enfield was recently assaulted after he tried to stop thieves stealing his tools.
Three men have been arrested for a spate of tool theft incidents amounting to €600,000.
They have been targeting counties Kildare, Meath, Kilkenny, Dublin, Westmeath and Roscommon.

In Carbury, the criminals made off with €7,000 worth of tools.
There have been thefts totaling €12,000 in Ashbourne, following a separate €1,600 heist in Dunboyne.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, KFM recently reported how tools estimated to be around €3,000 were stolen in the Glen Easton View estate in Leixlip last month.
According to the Irish Independent, detectives have determined that one faction of the gang is responsible for stealing the tools, while another handles their sale.
The gang, with connections to Galway and other parts of rural Ireland, is based in Ballymun.
