The HSE region covering Dublin South and Kildare saw a loss of two CAMHS staff in 2023, according to figures obtained by Fianna Fail TD Malcolm Byrne.
The staffing crisis in Ireland's Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) worsened last year despite increasing demand, with national staff numbers dropping from 831 to 811 by year-end.
Waiting lists also grew, rising from 3,759 to over 4,200 children awaiting care.

This regional drop reflects a broader national issue, where multiple areas, including Cork-Kerry and Cavan-Monaghan, also experienced significant staff reductions.
Over 200 children and young people in Kildare are currently awaiting assessment for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS), according to figures released by the HSE.
