The government has increased its funding for women's sport by 33 per cent - to try to narrow the participation gap with men.
€4 million has been allocated for the next two years, up from €3 million for the past two.
The programme's being run by Sport Ireland, and it aims to eliminate the gender participation divide by 2027.
Sports Minister Jack Chambers says the funding will help to achieve that goal.
