The former Wales forward has been permitted by Gloucester to join Matt Sherratt's coaching team as skills coach for the rest of the Six Nations.
Adam Jones has also come into the coaching team with a focus on working with their forwards on scrums.
Ireland's game against Wales is on Saturday at 2.15pm.
