Wednesday Morning Sports Update

Keeping you up to date on soccer, racing and golf.

SOCCER

Tottenham face a near impossible task in the last-16 of the Champions League against Atletico Madrid after losing the first leg 5-2.

Goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky had a nightmare in the Spanish capital, subbed on 17 minutes after his mistakes contributed to two goals.

It's four defeats in a row for new boss Igor Tudor.

Liverpool have less of a mountain to climb, but will need to overturn a 1-nil deficit against Galatasaray at Anfield next Wednesday

Newcastle were denied a famous win at home to Barcelona - Lamine Yamal converted a penalty with the last kick of the game at St James' Park, to leave it 1-all in that tie.

Premier League leaders Arsenal are away to Bayer Leverkusen in the quarter-to-six kick-off this evening.

There's a clash of the reigning champions and Club World Cup winners at 8pm, where PSG host Chelsea.

Manchester City are in Spain to take on Real Madrid, and Bodo Glimt go up against Sporting.

RACING

The Queen Mother Champion Chase is today's feature on day two of the Cheltenham Festival.

Having won yesterday's Champion Hurdle, trainer Willie Mullins has the favourite Majborough in this afternoon's big race.

The card gets underway with the Grade One Turners Novices' Hurdle at twenty-past-one.

GOLF
Rory McIlroy is set to travel to TPC Sawgrass today, ahead of the defence of his Players' Championship title.

It's understood that the world number two's back injury has responded well to treatment this week.

McIlroy's caddie Harry Diamond scouted the course yesterday - and McIlroy could get a practice round in later today.
