A Russian court's sentenced Alexei Navalny to nine years in a maximum security prison after convicting him of fraud and contempt of court.
The Kremlin critic has also been fined over €10,000.
The 45-year-old is already serving two-and-a-half years at a prison camp near Moscow, for parole violations related to charges he says were fabricated.
The prosecution acussed Mr. Navalny of embezzling money - which he and his foundation raised - and of insulting a judge during a previous trial.
Mr. Navalny denied the allegations.
The opposition leader dismissed the latest case as politically motivated, pleading not guilty.
