First positive case in Canberra area in over a year
Australia's capital city, Canberra, has entered a week-long lockdown after the discovery of 1 Covid-19 case.
A man in his 20s residing in Gungahlin, a suburb of Canberra, tested positive for the virus.
The case is the first positive in the area, in over a year.
The Australian Capital Territory's Health Department note contact tracing is underway, and the Department does have "an initial list of exposure locations".
Approximately 400,000 people in the capital will be under stay at home orders.
Those living in an approved postcode in the neighbouring state of New South Wales can access ACT, for essential work & healthcare reasons.
The 7-day lockdown is scheduled to lift on 19th August at 5pm.
The country's largest cities, Sydney and Melbourne, are also in lockdown.
