The US President confirmed he is revising the annual cap on the number of refugees allowed enter the country.
Joe Biden said his administration will increase the limit from 15,000 to 62,500.
The announcement followed outrage in his party, after he initially decided to keep the Trump-era figure.
However, Mr. Biden noted the US will not actually achieve 62,500 admissions this year, saying his administration had to "undo the damage" of the previous one.
