Announcement on leadership bid expected today.
The DUP MP Jeffrey Donaldson looks set to challenge Edwin Poots for leadership of the party.
The Northern Irish Agriculture Minister Mr Poots announced his candidacy last week, while an announcement by Mr Donaldson, who is the party’s current leader at Westminster, is anticipated today.
The vacancy arose when Arlene Foster resigned last week after a vote of no confidence was signed by a majority of her party colleagues.
Mr Donaldson would be seen as the moderate candidate against the more hard line Mr Poots.
