Man shot & killed within 60 seconds of beginning attack

6 people have been stabbed by a violent extremist in a terror attack at a supermarket in Auckland.

Authorities in New Zealand say they had no reason to believehe was planning an attack.

3 of the 6 injured people are described as critically ill.

The man, a Sri Lankan national, was shot and killed within 60 seconds of starting his attack.

The country's prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, says what he did was "despicable":
