President Rajapaksa fled the country on Wednesday
Sri Lanka's parliament has officially accepted a letter of resignation from its president following mass protests.
The letter was flown from Singapore last night after Gotabaya Rajapaksa fled the country on Wednesday.
Protestors stormed and occupied his home at the weekend, as the nation grapples with a three-month economic crisis.
