Heritage Village - housing needs for older adults

Heritage Village, located in Killenard, Co. Laois, purpose-built community for those aged 55+

As more people across Ireland are living longer, there’s an increased focus on providing the right housing choices to support this next stage of life. Recent research shows that the number of older people renting privately has surged in recent years, creating insecurity and financial strain for many in their 60s and beyond.*

According to a report by Simon Communities in partnership with Galway Simon Community, more than 260 people over the age of 65 are now living in emergency accommodation, with the number more than doubling in the past five years. The report clearly highlights the need to develop more housing solutions that better support those planning for a secure and comfortable future.**

Heritage Village, located in Killenard, Co. Laois, purpose-built later living community for those aged 55 and over, is providing age-appropriate homes within a secure, gated environment, onsite team and  24/7 resident support team on hand in a managed environment .

Maurice Harrington, Sales Manager at Heritage Village said: “Ireland’s population is living longer, yet our housing options haven’t caught up with how many want to live in later life. Crucially, we’re seeing that many people want to stay active and independent, but crave community, security and the optional support that comes with a purpose-built environment.
