152 Covid patients are now in hospital

1,408 new cases of covid-19 have been reported today, with 9 virus-related deaths confirmed since last week.

152 covid patients are now in hospital with 26 of those people in critical care.

As of midnight, Tuesday 27th July, we are reporting 1,408* confirmed cases of #COVID19.

26 in ICU. 152 in hospital.

The median age of those infected is 24, while around 2 per cent of cases are being hospitalised.

Deputy Chief Medical Officer Ronan Glynn says 21 covid-19 related deaths have been recorded since the start of June:

Professor Philip Nolan is President of Maynooth University and Chair of NPHET's modelling group.

He says daily cases could double by mid-August
