Overall, the total new car sales nationwide until May was 83,038
New figures have revealed 3,887 cars have been registered in Kildare since the beginning of the year until May.
That figure is increased from 3,492 last year.
1,238 of these were electric vehicles, up from 764 last year, a 62.04% rise.
It comes as The Society of the Irish Motor Industry has released its official 261 new vehicle registration statistics for May.
Dublin saw the highest number of new vehicles, with 34,652, while Leitrim saw the lowest at 329.
Dublin had 7,508 newly registered electric cars, with the lowest figure of 49 seen in Leitrim.
Overall, the total new car sales until May is 83,038, a 4.7% rise on 2025, 79,313.
