The new sites will deliver 192 new fast recharging points at 90 locations along the national primary and secondary road network, including Conlan's of Athy.
90 new recharging hubs to service the expanding electric vehicle fleet across Ireland's national road network have been announced.
Transport minister Darragh O'Brien says almost 10 million euro will be allocated to support grants for recharging infrastructure at the selected sites.
The new sites will deliver 192 new fast recharging points at 90 locations along the national primary and secondary road network, including Conlan's of Athy.
Conlan's of Athy owner Adrian Conlan told Kfm that it is a very welcome development for both his company and the many motorists, both from Athy and commuters, who will be able to avail of the facility.
He said it is a welcome addition to the recent expansion of parking facilities at his Centra and fuel depot.
It's part of a wider plan to build a reliable recharging network across the country, with the distance between recharging hubs envisaged as 30 kilometres or less.
The new charging points are expected to be available for public use by April next year.
